If you've ever suffered from clenching or grinding your teeth at night, you know how hard it is to find a dental guard that's comfortable, effective + affordable. The SmartGuard Dental Guard is all three... and it's as high quality as what you'd receive at the dentist. Instructions are easy-to-follow for a personal fit x overnight comfort set this guard apart from the rest. Simply add it to your nighttime regimen + experience the relief.
We talked to Ian A. from IA and here's what he had to say:
Q: Describe how you followed the molding instructions and how easy it was to get a great fit with this dental guard.
Ian A.: The directions of placing the mouth guard in the hot water for 90 seconds, then 90 seconds to mold was relatively simple. Getting the tightest fit was a little more difficult than anticipated, however. The material was a little bit heavier than I expected and much thicker than your standard sports mouthguard. I found it better to keep the mouth guard in the water for a few seconds longer, to be safe.
Q: Explain any teeth clenching or grinding issues you have had. How did the SmartGuard Dental Guard provide relief for you?
Ian A.: I have large upper teeth that I've found clench easily. They tend to grind together almost as a nervous habit as well. The SmartGuard took a little bit to get used to, but once I fell asleep I did not notice the guard in the mouth. The guard stayed put through the night and I woke up rested. The guard formed better to my teeth each night I used it.
Q: Describe how comfortable it is to wear this dental guard overnight.
Ian A.: As mentioned previously, there definitely was a bit of adjusting. The guard isn't small, by any means and the thickness takes a little getting used to. Once I was asleep, however I did not wake up due to the guard in my mouth.
Q: How would you compare the design and effectiveness of the SmartGuard Dental Guard to other dental guards you’ve worn?
Ian A.: While I've had grinding concerns in the past, this is my first attempt at a guard to combat it. What I've read about other guards is that they don't conform well to your mouth or hold their molded form over time. Trying the guard multiple times, it continued to hold its form.
Q: What are your favorite benefits of the SmartGuard Dental Guard?
Ian A.: I like that the SmartGuard is not a full mouth guard. It is effective in stopping grinding without your entire mouth being covered by the guard. It held it's shape very well through the night, despite being bit down on.
Q: How do you feel about the quality of this product for the pricing?
Ian A.: After using the product, you can tell the product is made well and built to last. For a first-time buyer, $25 retail may seem a little steep considering they most likely view the guard as just a piece of plastic. I would highlight the cost savings of this guard vs. one the dentist would mold.
