Deliciously spicy and perfectly affordable, the Nongshim Shin Cup is an ideal pick for on-the-go eating. You'll love the bright, satisfying heat and mix of flavors in this gourmet ramen. It's a quick-prepare soup that's just as good at home (with extras like a cracked egg and veggies) as it is on your lunch break (ready in a flash). All you have to do is wait for 3 minutes — stir well + serve. These shin cups are versatile and so simple to make.
We talked to Neal Y from IL about Nongshim and here's what he had to say:
Q: Describe the different flavor notes that you taste in the broth, the texture of the noodles, and overall taste of the noodles in the broth.
Neal Y: This soup has a sharpness to the spice that I love. It isn't too much for me, but certainly would offend many. The broth is creamy and salty, the perfect combination. It reminds me of a winter soup. 3 minutes is the recommended time to cook in the microwave, which made it awfully hot, but it was perfect for the noodles. The noodles were not mushy at all, but firm. I really enjoyed this!
Q: How would you choose to enhance your mealtime experience of the Shin Cup (e.g. what would you add to it, or what recipes would you make with it)?
Neal Y: This soup would be perfect with some fresh broccoli. Tofu would also be a fantastic addition for a light lunch. If this were to be eaten as a side dish, some fresh sushi would really balanced out the spice in the soup.
Q: What did you like most about the Shin Cup, and how does it differ from other ramen you’ve tried?
Neal Y: I've never had a microwavable Ramen cup before. It was incredibly convenient, and I could certainly see myself taking this in my lunch on one of those mornings where I didn't have time to prepare a meal. The flavor is far superior to any of the other packager ramens available. There is a depth to the flavor palate that is unmatched.
Q: Describe how you prepared the Shin Cup, the level of convenience in preparing it, and your thoughts on its ease of preparation on-the-go.
Neal Y: I used the microwave directions to prepare this meal. It was incredibly quick and convenient. The packaging doesn't take up much space and having its own container makes it ideal for a meal on the go. I found the directions to be easy to follow.
“This soup has a sharpness to the spice that I love. ”
Q: If you were recommending this product to someone else, how would you describe the level of heat and general spiciness?
Neal Y: The level of heat I would describe as a 6 of 10. But, I like my food spicy. I can think of several people that would never be able to tolerate the heat level of this meal. I certainly would not recommend it to anybody that I know that does not enjoy a reasonably spicy meal.
