Deliciously spicy and perfectly affordable, the Nongshim Shin Cup is an ideal pick for on-the-go eating. You'll love the bright, satisfying heat and mix of flavors in this gourmet ramen. It's a quick-prepare soup that's just as good at home (with extras like a cracked egg and veggies) as it is on your lunch break (ready in a flash). All you have to do is wait for 3 minutes — stir well + serve. These shin cups are versatile and so simple to make.
We talked to Henry B from CA about Nongshim and here's what he had to say:
Q: Describe the different flavor notes that you taste in the broth, the texture of the noodles, and overall taste of the noodles in the broth.
Henry B: The flavor is very intense and spicy. The broth is very well composed, with the flavor profiles one would get when boiling bones, creating the layers in the flavor. The bites of actual mushrooms and onions are a pleasant surprise. The noodles are very springy and not your standard ramen type noodle.
Q: How would you choose to enhance your mealtime experience of the Shin Cup (e.g. what would you add to it, or what recipes would you make with it)?
Henry B: This meal experience was well composed, but if I had to add anything, I would probably add some simple roast beef prior to the cooking. The spice and deep layered flavors would add themselves nicely to the roast beef. Other than a solid protein, I think the shin cup is already well composed.
Q: What did you like most about the Shin Cup, and how does it differ from other ramen you’ve tried?
Henry B: I enjoyed the deep flavors of the broth and the level of spice that created an interesting meal. I also really enjoyed the upgraded noodles, they are a change from the normal.
Q: Describe how you prepared the Shin Cup, the level of convenience in preparing it, and your thoughts on its ease of preparation on-the-go.
Henry B: There are two different methods of preparing the meal, either with boiled water and steaming in the cup, or by adding water and cooking in the microwave. Both are equally easy and very convenient.
“I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who enjoys a good spicy ramen.”
Q: If you were recommending this product to someone else, how would you describe the level of heat and general spiciness?
Henry B: I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who enjoys a good spicy ramen. The level of heat is a constant 4/5 but it isn't unpleasant and mainly adds to the intense flavor. It's akin to paprika.
