We talked to Clay M. from MA about Nongshim and here's what he had to say:
Q: Describe the different flavor notes that you taste in the broth, the texture of the noodles, and overall taste of the noodles in the broth.
Clay M.: These Nongshim Shin Cup noodles have a very rich and satisfying flavor that perfectly exemplifies Korean chili powder. The broth has a lot of depth and it is surprising so much flavor comes from a single spice packet. The added vegetables such as mushrooms add additional texture and taste, and the noodles are a great texture.
Q: How would you choose to enhance your mealtime experience of the Shin Cup (e.g. what would you add to it, or what recipes would you make with it)?
Clay M.: To enhance my Shin Cup, I would whisk an egg into it while cooking to add more protein and flavor.
Q: What did you like most about the Shin Cup, and how does it differ from other ramen you’ve tried?
Clay M.: What I love most about the Shin Cup is how rich the flavor is and how it is one of the few instant noodles that are actually spicy, but not too much. Most other instant ramen I've tried the broth seems watery with few flavor notes. Due to the richness, I often find myself feeling more full compared to other brands.
Q: Describe how you prepared the Shin Cup, the level of convenience in preparing it, and your thoughts on its ease of preparation on-the-go.
Clay M.: To prepare my Shin Cup I emptied the spice packet into it, filled with water to the line, and microwaved for 3 minutes stirring once in the middle. This was very easy to prepare and tasted just as good as the NongShim Shin packets. I think these packets are great to use on the go when you need a quick meal.
Q: If you were recommending this product to someone else, how would you describe the level of heat and general spiciness?
Clay M.: NongShim Shin noodles are not for someone who cannot handle spice. It does however, provide a perfect balance of heat without being overwhelming.
