Deliciously spicy and perfectly affordable, the Nongshim Shin Cup is an ideal pick for on-the-go eating. You'll love the bright, satisfying heat and mix of flavors in this gourmet ramen. It's a quick-prepare soup that's just as good at home (with extras like a cracked egg and veggies) as it is on your lunch break (ready in a flash). All you have to do is wait for 3 minutes — stir well + serve. These shin cups are versatile and so simple to make.
We talked to Tyler E. from CO about Nongshim and here's what he had to say:
Q: Describe the different flavor notes that you taste in the broth, the texture of the noodles, and overall taste of the noodles in the broth.
Tyler E.: Prepared in microwave, for convenience. First impression is that it has a very good scent and consistency for cup noodles, especially considering the preparation method. Definitely spicy as a first as it hits your mouth, it's not too hot, but as you continue and taste the spice kind of creeps up on you a little bit, but it's not terribly spicy. It's just enough to maybe make you want to drink, maybe. Possibly a mild peppery flavor tone. Overall very good, & I'm not usually a spicy guy. 4/5!
Q: How would you choose to enhance your mealtime experience of the Shin Cup (e.g. what would you add to it, or what recipes would you make with it)?
Tyler E.: I enjoyed it. Normally I'd probably make it by itself but possibly add some more mixed vegetables as the spiciness definitely overtakes any of the vegetables that are in the soup. Cheap and delicious, wish they had other flavors in the same brand like chicken and beef, etc.!
Q: What did you like most about the Shin Cup, and how does it differ from other ramen you’ve tried?
Tyler E.: I enjoy that it looks and tastes more authentic. I definitely enjoy the packaging and it seems a lot more versatile in recipes! 4/5!
“Overall very good, & I'm not usually a spicy guy.”
Q: Describe how you prepared the Shin Cup, the level of convenience in preparing it, and your thoughts on its ease of preparation on-the-go.
Tyler E.: Super easy to prepare. Microwave Instructions make it really easy. Loved that there's also stove top preparation as well cuz that usually comes out just a bit better like that.
Q: If you were recommending this product to someone else, how would you describe the level of heat and general spiciness?
Tyler E.: I would definitely only recommended to friends that I knew like spicy food. I know I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to spiciness and it was okay enough for me to handle, so I would definitely be like it's pretty spicy, but it's not intolerable. Though if I had a friend that I definitely knew liked spicy stuff I would recommend it to them in a heartbeat. Very good!
