We talked to Jonathan P. from CA about Nongshim and here's what he had to say:
Q: Describe the different flavor notes that you taste in the broth, the texture of the noodles, and overall taste of the noodles in the broth.
Jonathan P.: First of all, I like how there is a broth packet to put on top of just the noodles. The noodles were also really easy to make. Just open the packet, pour hot water on them cover for 3 mins. My first impression when I first tasted them was that it had a really nice full flavor. I could actually taste the mushrooms in the soup. I also liked the spicy, but not overbearing flavor. It's spicy at first, but doesn't linger for too long, which is nice because the next taste is like a new one. The noodles themselves were perfect. I liked the firmness and taste to them. They didn't taste like cardboard, like a lot of other instant noodles and still held up even after they had been sitting in the broth for a while. Overall I would recommend these to anyone and purchase again. I was very satisfied with them and feel full from the amount.
Q: How would you choose to enhance your mealtime experience of the Shin Cup (e.g. what would you add to it, or what recipes would you make with it)?
Jonathan P.: Overall my experience was good with the noodles and I liked how they provide a quick and easy on the go option to eat tasty noodles. If I was sitting at home though, I would put them in a bowl so it's a little easier to drink the broth at the same time and I'd probably put an egg in it before cooking them to thicken up the broth. Other than that perfect noodles.
Q: What did you like most about the Shin Cup, and how does it differ from other ramen you’ve tried?
Jonathan P.: I think I like the noodle texture and thickness. Other of the name brand noodles don't seem as high quality and usually taste a little stale. Not the case for these Nongshim noodles.
Q: Describe how you prepared the Shin Cup, the level of convenience in preparing it, and your thoughts on its ease of preparation on-the-go.
Jonathan P.: Preparing it was super easy and seems to cook faster than all the other instant ramens. All I did was open the lid, dump the packet in, pour hot water in, close the lid and wait 3 mins. Being able to prepare and cook a meal in maybe 5 mins tops and run out the door in awesome!
Q: If you were recommending this product to someone else, how would you describe the level of heat and general spiciness?
Jonathan P.: I would say the heat was perfect. Spicy at first, but not too spicy and it doesn't linger or stay on your tongue, so you can enjoy each bite.
