Deliciously spicy and perfectly affordable, the Nongshim Shin Cup is an ideal pick for on-the-go eating. You'll love the bright, satisfying heat and mix of flavors in this gourmet ramen. It's a quick-prepare soup that's just as good at home (with extras like a cracked egg and veggies) as it is on your lunch break (ready in a flash). All you have to do is wait for 3 minutes — stir well + serve. These shin cups are versatile and so simple to make.
We talked to John T. from IN about Nongshim and here's what he had to say:
Q: Describe the different flavor notes that you taste in the broth, the texture of the noodles, and overall taste of the noodles in the broth.
John T.: Well I will start off by saying that there is a bit of spicy heat, which is printed on the label. I found that the spiciness did not overshadow the wonderful flavor of the broth and noodles, and despite me not eating spicy foods I was still able to enjoy this cup of noodles. I probably won't buy this specific flavor for everyday consumption, but I will keep some on hand for my special taste craving days.
“These are extremely easy to fit into a busy schedule due to short prep time.”
Q: How would you choose to enhance your mealtime experience of the Shin Cup (e.g. what would you add to it, or what recipes would you make with it)?
John T.: I did enjoy the untouched flavor of the noodles and broth in this noodle soup even with spiciness (which is printed on the label) I was still able to enjoy the entire cup due to the spiciness not overwhelming the great flavor created in the broth. I don't normally seek out real hot or spicy dishes while shopping, but I will keep some of these on hand for quick lunches or snacking, possibly adding some shrimp or even roast pork will be the only recipe changes I will make.
Q: What did you like most about the Shin Cup, and how does it differ from other ramen you’ve tried?
John T.: I found quite a bit more flavor over and above just spicy came from the broth packet in this dish. I also liked the size and texture of the noodles. The vegetables in the cup also rehydrated and tasted fresh once done cooking. I will buy these and add shrimp or roast pork to make them into an entree.
Q: Describe how you prepared the Shin Cup, the level of convenience in preparing it, and your thoughts on its ease of preparation on-the-go.
John T.: I purchased these to eat on a lunch break at work today and I prepared them using the microwave instructions. I was able to start enjoying the noodles in 4mins, 3mins of cooking time and 1minute to cool a little. These are extremely easy to fit into a busy schedule due to short prep time.
Q: If you were recommending this product to someone else, how would you describe the level of heat and general spiciness?
John T.: I would be happy to inform them of the heat and spiciness, but also happy to inform them of the wonderful flavor that goes with it. I would let them know that the spiciness did not overwhelm the flavor at any time. I would also let them know that I don't normally eat anything that states that it is spicy.
