Ser!ous Bean Co. Beans Might Overshadow Your Main Course

In Partnership with Serious Bean Co.

We talked to Mike from OKand here’s what he had to say:

Q
Thoughts on the Ser!ous Bean Co. offerings?

A
I like the variety of options available and was able to select one that I think I will enjoy. I'm not a fan of mustard or non-dessert food that is too sweet, so I skipped the Mustard Q and Dr. Pepper baked beans. But it's nice to see some bold, original flavor options to choose from. I'm excited to try the Sweet & Smoky Chipotle!
Q
Which flavor did you go for?

A
I chose the Sweet & Smoky Chipotle Baked Beans because I love spicy foods. I was afraid it would be too sweet for me because I'm not a fan of non-dessert foods that are sweet. However, I found that the sweetness was very well balanced out by the adobo spices. At first, you taste the sweetness from the brown sugar immediately followed by a rush of spicy and smoky flavors. I loved it and prefer these to any other canned baked I've tried.
Q
How do you plan to serve them?

A
I would serve these as a side dish at family get-togethers and summer cookouts. I will probably buy the other flavors as well to give my guests a choice since I think they will be an enjoyable novelty dish complementing the main course. I expect that people will want to try a small amount of each kind to find their favorites. I think the flavors in the one I tried work well together because they are well-balanced and seem to be the result of recipe experimentation to get it just right.
Q
Would you grab another can on your next grocery run?

A
I'm curious to taste the other flavors now, since I liked the Sweet & Smoky Chipotle Baked Beans so much. I like that the ingredients are simple with no preservatives added. I typically only take a few bites of baked beans when served with an entree. However, I ended up eating the whole serving. Very well done!
